Vernons feel lucky with Eos Media
Eos Media have developed a unique, personal lucky number generator for Vernons as
part of a new game to rival the National Lottery. Vernons, part of the Ladbrokes
Group, commissioned Eos to develop the advanced Flash application, which uses a
combination of numerology and astrology to output the 6 playing numbers. A
database of users will be targeted to receive the application via e-mail. The
remit behind the development was for players to "feel a strong sense of ownership
of their numbers" --- "to play the game every week" --- "to feel that they will be truly lucky".
Whilst the chances of success on the new game are many times greater than those associated
with the National Lottery, Eos aren't able to guarantee first prize on the new game, but we
are able to guarantee a winning solution.

Eos Media Launches Broadband Streaming Channel for Dabs.com
Eos Media has implemented yet another UK first with the launch of Dabs.tv
for leading Internet retailer Dabs.com. During June and July, Dabs.tv will be
showcasing 20 of the most desirable consumer electronics and IT products using
streaming media technology to supply on demand product demonstrations.
Eos scripted, produced, edited and encoded the Web 'show', enlisting
the presentation skills of BBC Click Online's ever popular, Kate Russell.
Filming took place at Manchester's Granada Studios, ensuring a broadcast
quality product for a broadband market. Steve Cooper, Director of Digital
Media at Eos said, "By employing the highest quality production standards,
we've successfully created with Dabs a TV-like experience for the rapidly
growing broadband market. People expect more, so we've delivered more".
The move follows a poll on Dab's website which asked its half-million
customer base if on demand video clips would help them in their online
purchase decisions. During the two days on which the poll ran, 61% of
respondents confirmed they had broadband access to the Internet.

Eos Media Achieves "Red Alert" For Major BBC Drama Series
Manchester-based New Media agency Eos Media has launched a major streaming video
marketing campaign for the BBC's award-winning network drama series Clocking Off.
Programme makers Red Production Company commissioned Eos Media to produce an email
marketing campaign which streams clips of episodes in advance of transmission.
Eos Media is one of the UK's leading agencies in streaming media for marketing
campaigns and was the agency which produced last year's acclaimed global e-commerce
broadcast of Muhammad Ali for US games giant EA Sports. Users receiving the emails,
which are branded around the hit BBC programme, see the video clip within seconds
of opening the email. The emails use Energis' java-based Streamwave technology
to pass unhindered through firewalls so the number of emails which reach recipients'
inboxes for viewing is close to 100 per cent.
Users are encouraged to spread the message by taking up a "send to a friend" option.
Data about recipients is captured and statistics are recorded and analysed for
future campaigns by Red and Eos.
Eos Media's New Media Director Tony Barnes says: "The campaign is a runaway success
exceeding all expectations. "Within the first 12 hours, the number of people who
had viewed the email was double the amount of emails first delivered. It trebled
again in the next 12 hours."
Andrew Critchley from Red Production Company, which also makes Channel Four's Queer as Folk and
ITV's Bob and Rose, said: "This is a great way of spreading the word about our shows. Our
programmes are innovative and so is the way that this is helping us to get the message
out there to the audience."
Eos managed the whole process from concept and design to encoding and delivery.
Energis provided the Streaming Email technology to deliver the email campaign.
Jon Tobbell, director of product management for Energis' innovation centre, said,
"This is a great example of how Streaming Email can be an engaging element of a
marketing campaign. It's also quick to deliver, cost-effective when compared
with traditional forms of direct marketing and response rates can be measured
within hours."
The campaign is one of several being launched by Eos for media and corporate clients
over the coming weeks. Eos is working with a number of advertising and marketing
agencies to produce video campaigns for their clients.
